September 12th 2007 : Everyone Wins: A Song For Team Ireland, Performed by Mickey Harte

The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games will take place in Shanghai, China from 2nd - 11th October 2007. 7,000 athletes from 169 countries will compete at the Games. This event will mark the first time the World Games will be held in Asia and only the second time they will be held outside of the United States. In 2003 the Special Olympics World Summer Games were held in Dublin, the summer games were the first ever held outside the United States, and were the world's largest sporting event in 2003. More than 7,000 athletes from 165 countries participated in 18 competitive and three demonstration sports.

In October TEAM Ireland 2007 will travel to China with 142 athletes, 55 coaches and 200 volunteers to compete in the World Games.

TEAM Ireland was announced at a gala event in the RDS in Dublin at the end of April 2007; Mickey Harte who had performed at the closing ceremony of the Special Olympics in Croke Park in 2003 and was asked by the committee to perform at the launch of TEAM Ireland this year.

This great event was the inspiration for Mickey to write a song in TEAM Ireland’s honor. He teamed up with Keith Molloy and Martin Brannigan for the project as the trio proved to be a winning formula in the past with the success of the #1 hit “we’ve got the world” which became the biggest and fastest selling single of 2003 and represented Ireland in the Eurovision song contest in Riga, Latvia the same year.

Everyone Wins is released on Friday Sept 21st‘07 and available from all good record stores and retail outlets nationwide: to download the track just text 'music special' to 57501. 99c is charged to their mobile. You will receive a pin number to your mobile which is used to download the track on downloadmusic.ie.

It is essential that there is a space between the word 'music' and the word 'special'. i.e. musicspecial will not work. It must be music special.
